Evolution Of MAFIA

MAFIA was co-founded and incorporated in 2003 under the name Fairfield Animal Rescue (FAR) as a 501(c)3 non profit charity by two residents of Winnsboro, South Carolina who wanted to begin a rescue for re-homing abused and abandoned pets in Fairfield County.  Since that time, we have re-homed hundreds of dogs and cats that  have come to us from all over the state and some have gone to forever homes as far away as Pennsylvania and Florida.

Home visits are required prior to adoption, even for long distance placements, to ensure that the placement is within our strict guidelines.  We have life interest in every pet we rescue and never discard a pet regardless of their medical condition, aging, or failure to receive a forever home.  Once they come into our Family, they are in for life.
